Greetings, Wanderer! I am Salamander Smith, a valued member of my community. I enjoy running in the woods, jumping off cliffs, headlong into cold rushing water, and can catch salmon with my bare hands. I have three brothers and four sisters, all of whom are skilled hunters, dancers and artists. We live in a caravan that smells like cinnamon and incense and attend peace rallies. And I’ve never been forced to go to school because my family believes in freedom of being.

Okay, I lied. Like, a lot.

But I can’t help it! My life seems so boring when compared with the lives of so many others. Who knows, maybe if I was born somewhere else, everything I’d stated above would be truth; maybe I’d have an exciting life. Maybe I wouldn’t find my life that interesting, just because it would be another day to me. Or maybe I’d want a boring life, filled with predictable problems, like the status of my hair, or the status of my crush on Facebook.

Oh, no. I can assure you the life of Salamander Smith (most likely affectionately dubbed Sally by her peers) would be a far more interesting read than anything I could tell you about myself. My name is Charlotte Harrow, and I’m just your average sixteen year old girl; awkward, clumsy, embarrassing, and probably completely and totally stupid where it counts; and, no – dear God, no – not in the “cute” way. Clearly, there’s nothing to be told here.

And yet, you’re still here, reading this line of text, trying to see where I’m going with this.

And I’m still here, with an obvious story to tell.

And just like that annoying friend you know, who definitely wants to say something – anything – but wants to make sure a million times you really do care enough to listen, I’ll eventually shut up my whining and just carry on, because this redundancy is killing me. Gosh, my English teacher will surely fail me forever if she ever reads this.
